Episode 218 – Georgia On My Mind


Laura is  knitting on a pair of Halloween socks out of Another Crafty Girl in Halloween Town. Leslie is knitting on Eased (bulky version) by Alicia Plummer with Berocco Remix in color 3960, and Tric by Asa Tricosa in Highland Handmades Butternut DK in the Teal colorway.  She is also working on her design for Infinite Twist out of Halo Heather in the dragon colorway. Laura finished her 3rd Camp Loopy Project, Every Last Yard out of Tosh DK in the Medieval colorway on size 7 needles.  She also finished a pair of  Mukluk slippers out of Three Waters Farm handspun in the Positive Outlook and Cascade 220.  They were huge (gauge is key) but felted down nicely.  She used size 9 needles.  Lastbut not least, she finished a Gladys dishcloth from the book, The Dishcloth Diva Knits On using dishcloth cotton on size 7 needles. Leslie started and finished two quick projects: Split back Snowflake Cap by Susan B Anderson out of Tempting Ewe Yarns “Ewe So Wooly” base in the Grey Goose colorway and Sweet Georgia Yarns Trinity Worsted in the Wisteria Colorway, and Simple Herringbone Mitts by Katraka Metz out of Hazelknits Cadence in Sassafrass and Aventurine. Laura finished the singles for her Southern Cross Fibre in the Funhouse colorway.  She is in the middle of plying it now. Episode 217 – Sweater Time

Laura is  knitting on her 3rd Camp Loopy Project, Every Last Yard out of Tosh DK in the Medieval colorway.

Leslie is knitting on Eased (bulky version) by Alicia Plummer with Berocco Remix in color 3960, and Tric by Asa Tricosa in Highland Handmades Butternut DK in the Teal colorway.

Leslie also spent some time processing her cormo fleece.

Laura finished her Southern Cross Fibre Shetland in the Double Dog Dare Ya colorway (405 yards)

Question from Osage, “What do you like to knit out of short skeins of handspun — 200 yards or less? I see you both spin bulky yarns out of 4 oz braids a lot. I do too, but I don’t know what to do with them — I have enough hats! Thanks.”

Episode 216 – Every Last Yard

 

Laura is  knitting on her 3rd Camp Loopy Project, Every Last Yard out of Tosh DK in the Medieval colorway.

Leslie is knitting on Skyp socks in Caterpillar Green’s Concrete & Tulips colorway.  She has started the Tric cardigan in Highland Handmades Butternut DK in the Slate colorway.  She cast on Eased (bulky version) by Alicia Plummer with Berocco Remix in color 3960.

Laura has finished a pair of plain self-striping socks out of Coloring Book Yarns in the Play colorway.  She is knitting it on size 1 needles (2.25mm).

She has finished The View From Here hat out of Desert Vista Dyeworks. She also finished Asunder out of The Cyborg’s Craft Room in the Stellar and I Will Follow You Into The Dark colorways.

Leslie also spent some time processing her cormo fleece.

Episode 215 – Wool Hoarders


Laura is  knitting on a pair of plain self-striping socks out of Coloring Book Yarns in the Play colorway.  She is knitting it on size 1 needles (2.25mm).   She also knit a few rows on Jackaroo by Amy Herzog using size 6 needles and a Naturally Merino, a New Zealand merino/silk blend yarn.  She swatched for her 3rd Camp Loopy Project, Every Last Yard and is getting gauge on size 7 needles.

Leslie is knitting on Skyp socks in Caterpillar Green’s Concrete & Tulips colorway.  She has swatched for the Tric cardigan in Highland Handmades Butternut DK in the Slate colorway.  She has almost finished The View From Here hat out of Desert Vista Dyeworks, and is making good progress on Asunder out of The Cyborg’s Craft Room in the Stellar and I Will Follow You Into The Dark colorways.

Laura has finished her Camp Loopy 2 project.  It is Stocco by Rose Beck.  She  knit it on size 6 (4.5 mm) needles using Skein DK.  It is huge!  Over a 90 inch wingspan.

Laura has finished prep on the cormo and has 3-plyed a total of 6.6 ounces for 336 yards.  She is working on singles in shetland in the Double Dog Dare colorway from Southern Cross Fibre and BFL in the Black on Holiday colorway from Hello Yarn.

Question from Punk Yarner, “I’m a very broke knitter/crocheter so I can only get the worsted weight stuff from Wal-Mart. I keep hearing things like DK and Fingering, what are the different yarn weights and what do their names mean?”

Next on the Needles: Laura is going to knit Allis in support of a LynnZimm’s niece, Megan.  Leslie is going to cast on Big Damn Heroes out of Madelinetosh TML sent by a sweet viewer.
