Episode 111 – Memorial Day

Laura is knitting on Little Shells on size 8 needles using Leslie’s  Tempted Yarns handspun.  She is also knitting on a mystery project for the Rebecca Danger groups fairy tale swap.

Leslie is knitting on a Thin Ice Shawl out of 800 yards of Hanspun (Miss Babs and Fiber Optic plyed together for 800 yards).

Laura has finished a pair of Socks on a Plane (pattern coming soon) on size 1.5 needles out of  Barking Dogs Yarns in her Opposites Attract base.  The colorway is Darcy and Elizabeth.   She has also finished the shawl she is designing using Unwind Yarn Company.  Her LaLa’s Simple Shawl out of some handspun for the knitalong in the LaLa Knits Group is also complete.  She has used some scrap Spud and Chloe Sweater to knit a pair of Jelly Bean Baby Socks using size 7 needles.

Leslie has finished the Pomme de pin Cardigan by Amy Christophers out of Berroco Vintage dk.  She is knitting it on size 6 and 4 needles.

Laura is spinning on her new Bosworth.  It is Llama, Mohair, BFL from Autumn House Farms.  She also spun some corespun using mohair as the core and some batts purchased from a local vendor at the Middle TN Fiber Festival (40 yards).

Both Laura and Leslie show off the samples they spun in Jacey Bogg’s class and Fleegle’s supported spindling class.

Leslie has spun a lovely bulky using batts from Ever Improving Me (80 or so yards).

About Leslie

Leslie is obsessed with knitting, and when possible, perfection in her knitting. All stripey socks must match exactly and all lace must be blocked severely. She has major love for all of her viewers/readers and hopes to keep blogging and podcasting for years to come.

I love that you bought your Romney from Marshmallow Meadow Farms. Rhonda is wonderful and the fiber I have spun up has been great. I’ll be spinning the same color as you got, plus 2 other complimentary ones for TDF2012.

  2. Debbie R. says:

I enjoyed seeing your class spinning. I’m thinking of getting a supported spindle, but, am not sure what would be a good beginner one. I do have drop spindles, but, they are not I need to use them more to spin. I loved the fibers you bought, especially Leslie’s gradient green and Laura’s purple with sparklies.

Earlier this month, I picked up a black Romney hoggett fleece I had processed at a local mill. I plan to spin part of it for the June SAL. I might dye some of it first.

I loved the kitty cameo. He looks just like my boys, Tiger and Tipper, who are also Maine Coone. It’s funny how they have very distinct personalities.

  3. MelSki says:

You ladies make me miss living in Memphis! I wonder if there is any way to spin singlehandedly…just kidding! It would be better to support those amazing fiber artists that can. I’d wind up making myself cocooned! But you girllls do make me want to spin (and be next door neighbors!) Thanks for all you do =)

  4. fleegle says:

So glad you enjoyed the class! I enjoyed meeting both of you, and hope to see you again soon!
