Episode 101 – Not Your Typical Colorway

Laura is knitting  a pair of Simple Skyp socks out of Socks that Rock Medium Weight in Sugarplum on size 2 (2.75mm) needles.

Leslie is knitting on a pair of socks out of handspun. She is also knitting on an Evenstar out of Tempted Yarn. She got some beads for it from here.  If you would like to knit Evenstar as well, Susan Pandorf is offering a $2 discount if you use the code: theknitgirllls on Ravelry.

Laura has finished another test knit for Stitchnerds (pattern not available yet) called Thistles out ofNashua Creative Focus Superwash. She has also cast on this premie hat for  Knitting Brooklyn‘s/Remembering Remy’s premie hat kal.  You can find out more info here in Knitting Brooklyn’s Ravelry group.

Laura has finished a batt from  Dawning Dreams (3 oz) and got 366 yards.  Laura is spinning an inglenook  fibers batt in Honeysuckle on Leslie’s sidekick.  On the Lendrum is a Loop batt in the African Violet colorway.  On the Bug, is a Miss Babs merino/silk fiber in the Fall pansy colorway (There seems to be a flower theme to my spinning this week). FNB Plastics sells cupholders for spinning wheels.

About Leslie

Leslie is obsessed with knitting, and when possible, perfection in her knitting. All stripey socks must match exactly and all lace must be blocked severely. She has major love for all of her viewers/readers and hopes to keep blogging and podcasting for years to come.

Nice little episode, Girllls. I can tell you right off the bat, you enabled me to buy a shawl pattern tonight. I used the code which was theknitgirlls, so thanks ever so. I also told my knit group about you this weekend, we had a little local retreat which was very restful and you always pick up some tip just from being around people who knit. So you will hopefully have another influx of St. Louisans joining your band of merry men. Glad you recovered, Leslie. There are few things worse than getting sick while traveling, so you have my empathy. The Evenstar is glorious, I shall now have an archeological expedition to my basement where I shall dig for yarn from days gone by to find laceweight of suitable yardage.

I saw the owl needle gauge last week but didn’t order it right away. As soon as I saw you show it, I knew I had better stop the podcast and go and order one before it was sold out! I did and it is and I am going to hook it to the owl knitting bag that I sewed. There is nothing like coordinated knitting supplies!!!

Great Show! I’m glad I made more of the Owl Needle gauges this week! I never thought about the wraps per inch aspect of the owl. I’m a beginning spinner over here! Thanks again for appreciating my items and getting me through part of my work day!

  4. Does anyone know of any Yarn festivales in Kentucky?

I just found your podcast and started watching through all the old episodes. Thank you for an awesome podcast, you guys rock! Since in from Finland I’d like to point you to this Finnish company called Succaplocci that make knitting accessories out of recycled plastic. They have some awesome sockblockers, stitchmarkers made from LEGO, an owl gauge measure that is crazy cute and some other cool stuff as well. Check them out on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Succaplokki
