Laura & Leslie go through our normal segments and then review Interweave Knits Summer 2011. We talk about Kentucky Fiber Fest and Stash Dash, and mention donating to the show.
Laura’s works in progress include the Shetland Pi shawl(size 5 US/3.75mm needles) by Wendy Johnson. It is out of Blackberry Ridge Silk Blend Laceweight. I’m also working on a stripy sock out of the Amy Lee Show’s Canon Hand Dyed Yarn in the Arthur base in the “We are for the Night.” I also made 1 points worth of progress on my Gaenor out of Kitchen Sink Dyeworks in Luxe Merino Fine in the Dexter colorway size 5 (3.75). Leslie is working on the Senneh socks using the Silk Road Sock book (we told y’all we liked that one). She is using Hazel Knits in the Cherry Fizz colorway on 2.5 mm (1.5 US) needles. You can find all of Hunter’s patterns on ravelry.
Leslie has also completed the swatch for leadlight and has submitted it for her OWLs.

Laura has knit up some monster chunks out of scrap yarn.
Leslie has finished a quiditch bookscarf out of scrap yarn. She has also finished a Mossy Sweater out of Teal Feather Rios. She is using size 9 (5.5 mm) needles. She has sewn a blanket for her wee nephew. She also finished Hitchhiker out of Wollmeise in the Am Kalten Polor colorway. Then there was the swap square she knit out of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran from the Great American Afghan book and the Albina mitts out of the SAL/KAL fiber dyed by Tempted.

Laura has spun some Abstract Fibers Superwash BFL in the Gaston colorway. She got 150 yards of a light worsted and it is going to live at it’s new home soon!

Hi Leslie,
You did a great job on the “blanket” which I call a quilt. You will be really happy once you get the new machine. wink wink. Be sure it has a knee lever and a “needle Up/needle Down feature and then you’ll be a whiz at making quilts. I love to make quilts but knitting has taken over my life and it’s fighting for more space in my craft room which used to be my quilt studio…

Lala, here’s a suggestion: instead of writing on the bins what is inside, why not label your bins with pretty, decorative “A, B, C…” Then have an index card box and write on each card what yarn you have and file it under the appropriate letter. When you are looking for something, all you have to do is flip through your cards. When you use it up, take out the card. If you move it to another bin, move the card.
PS This system also works for any other storage done in bins (clothes, household items, decorations, etc.)
