TheKnitGirllls Episode 23 – The One With Lots of Interruptions

We hope you enjoy Episode 23! Shownotes to follow.

Laura is knitting on her circus trainwreck of projects including…

featherweight cardi out of Malabrigo lace (Totally in love with this now that I’ve tried it on)

Mystery Pi shawl out of Blackberry Ridge Lace Silk Blend in the Samarkand Blue.

Toe up socks with gusset out of  Blue Ridge Footprints sock yarn in the Caribbean Cooler colorway (one is done and toe is done on the second).

Harry Potter series of Opal yarn in the Tonks colorway (soon to have a heel)

BTW, I’m wearing an Argus shawlette out of Numma Numma Saucy in the Blue Cheese colorway.

Leslie is knitting on…

A baby hat (BTW the premie hat marathon collected 46 hats last week, how awesome is that?)

Leslie is finished…

Beverly’s Socks, they are the Wrought Iron pattern by Wendyknits out of Plucky Knitter

LacyKaty in Zauberball

Laura is spinning…

Abstract Fiber in Polwarth is finished.  Shady Glade is the color of fiber. I’ve started spinning some lovely green merino from Dyabolical.

Important tip of the week: You can’t take your wheel with you.

Favorite Things:

Akimbo is the name of the Stephen West shawl I want to start.

WE”RE VISITING WENDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you people who have donated.  We heart you !

Warehouse 13 is pretty cool if you like Eureka type shows.

Weekend Knitting is a great basic pattern book that has lots of skills incorporated in them.  I also love the asides with lists of movies and books that include knitting or recipes. The photography and layout is awesome!  Overall, well worth the money.

Her Fearful Symmetry and Cast On magazine  is what Leslie is planning on reading on the plane.

Just Dance is on my list of Wii games to purchase (although the second comes out soon).

Hunger Games and Tiffany Aching (two awesome young adult fantasy/sci fi)

Leslie’s awesome Rainbow yarn from Lisa.

We will be at Fiberspace on Labor Day.

About Leslie

Leslie is obsessed with knitting, and when possible, perfection in her knitting. All stripey socks must match exactly and all lace must be blocked severely. She has major love for all of her viewers/readers and hopes to keep blogging and podcasting for years to come.

  1. My vote for the KAL is a shawl, because I need to get my lace knitting in gear. Maybe we could do one of Wendyknits’ shawlettes??

Thanks guys for recording and uploading so fast, as I had finished watching all the previous episodes and was starting to develop a twitch. 🙂

LaLa, when you do shownotes, please tell us what the pattern was for your shawl that you wore in this episode. You said it once, but it was too fast for me to catch.

What about doing Wendy Johnson’s Seriously Simple Shawl at a knit along? It’s a free pattern on Ravelry. Keep up the episodes, love getting notified on Twitter when they are posted.

  3. Another great one. I think we all understand the pressure to produce an item a week and don’t honestly expect you guys to turn them out that fast. You do have lives, work, kids, etc. I’d rahter hear you rant than see your finished objects so please don’t put off podcasting for lack of FOs. Enjoy the trip to Wendy’s. Hopefully we’ll get a piece of it via the podcast.
    Love your show!

I’m so jealous you’ll get to hang out at fiber space! I went there at Wendy’s recommendation in June and LOVED it.

2003 isn’t old…it’s when I graduated college. Not old not old not old ::-p

    Have a safe trip!!

  5. LaLa says:

It’s also the year that I graduated college. The 6th graders I’m teaching this year were all born in 98 and 99 which was my senior year of high school. I think that’s what’s making me feel old this week 🙂

  6. Karen says:

her fearful symmetry is wonderful – it will shock you what happens in true Audrey style

Loved the book review, I just reached back and took it off my shelf as you spoke. A great treat after a long shift!
Leslie, my top fave is tea leaves cardigan and I’ve queued it up for just after my pi KAL.

I just found you guys about a week ago. It’s going to take me forever to get caught up. I feel like i’m at Sit and knit♥ with you two. I think this has been my favorite so far(although I have only seen about a dozen episodes)I think it was the wine♥.

  9. Lisa B. says:

That’s one of my favorite knitting books too. I love to just sit and flip through it. Greetings from Knit Cafe is another one like that for me, as is any book that has fabulous photography featuring beautiful landscapes and/or sheep. 🙂

And Laura, I’ve been remiss in thanking you for the yarn you donated to Lynn Zimm’s fund raiser! I won a skein of it and it is awesome! I can’t wait for it to figure out what it would like me to make out of it!

  10. Tina P says:

My favorite moment was in episode 1 when Leslie called Laura the Rainman of yarn! LOL But the old spice commercial spoof has just about surpassed that! You gals have challenged me to do the Norwegian Socks, get on plurk, and I’m starting to stalk Wollmeise yarn!
